James Ingram won a Grammy for the Quincy Jones-produced "Ya-Mo-B There,'' a spirited song he performed with Michael McDonald during the 1980s that requests that "God to be there."

Now Ingram is turning his attentions back to spiritual music full time with the CD Stand (in the Light). The son of a deacon, Ingram is one of six children and is a self-taught musician, adept at piano, guitar, bass, drums and synthesizer, according to The Chicago Defender, which details his return to gospel.
