My fantasy lineup -- this week's transactions

I'm currently participating in a 12-team mixed league with 11 members of Hardcore Country.

The scoring system is 5x5 roto with one disabled list spot. Each week I'll list my rosters, the moves I made and a brief update on what I'm thinking with some of the players.

Currently, I'm in fourth place.

1. Added: Brad Hawpe, OF (COL)

The first thing that caught my eye about Brad Hawpe was his eight home runs in June. Adding him made sense because I could use some power on my team. I'm not thrilled with the fact that he only had 17 RBIs and 12 runs in a month where he hit .316. He's also been working out of the cleanup spot. I want to believe in Hawpe, but he might just be a rental.

1. Dropped: Randy Winn, OF (SF)

Randy Winn is hitting only .181 over his past nine games and has clearly cooled off. He's a waiver-wire guy, but I may go to him again if my regular players falter or get hurt. He has only three runs, three RBIs and two stolen bases in that span.

2. Added: Mike Lowell, 3B (BOS)

Mike Lowell is fresh off a phenomenal month in which he hit .351 with six home runs. I'm hoping that the hot streak will continue because I could use some help at third base. With David Ortiz out of the lineup and Manny Ramirez struggling, Lowell stepped up with 25 RBIs and 18 runs scored.

Alex Gordon has been somewhat of a disappointment this season as my starting third baseman. He's hitting just .262 with 11 home runs and 41 RBIs. The 49 runs are good but his overall numbers are not what I expected.

2. Dropped: Conor Jackson, 1B/OF (ARI)

I dropped Conor Jackson and he's already been added to somebody else's roster. If you look at his overall numbers, you'd think he's having a pretty good season. He's hitting .310 with eight home runs, 44 RBIs and 48 runs. He also has six stolen bases, but most of his stats were padded in the first month of the season. Five of his eight home runs, 24 of his 44 RBIs and 24 of his 48 runs came in April. His average is .310, which is legit, but the rest of his numbers are misleading and I need more production right now.
