My fantasy lineup -- this week's transactions

I'm currently participating in a 12-team mixed league with 11 members of Hardcore Country.

The scoring system is 5x5 roto with one disabled list spot. Each week I'll list my rosters, the moves I made and a brief update on what I'm thinking with some of the players.

Currently, I'm in third place.

1. Added: Ramon Hernandez, C (BAL)

Jorge Posada has been a disaster for me this season. About the only good news I have is that he opted not to have surgery, but that might actually be bad news. Now he might mill about and provide some more of the zero home runs and two RBIs that he has contributed this month.

Ramon Hernandez is having a big month, but as with most catchers, who knows if he'll continue this. He has seven home runs and 22 RBIs since the start of June so I'm compelled to find out.

1. Dropped: Alex Gordon, 1B/3B (KC)

If this were an uncensored blog, I'd really tell you how I feel about Alex Gordon. For now, you'll just have to wait until my uncensored radio show on Saturday.

This guy blows (for fantasy purposes), if the editors will allow me to say that. Gordon has six home runs and 22 RBIs over his last 161 at-bats. He's also hitting a cool .204 in that time. For 120th overall, where I drafted him, I expected a lot more. It's time for me to move on.

Thinking About: Jonathan Sanchez, SP (SF)

I own Jonathan Sanchez and am a bit concerned about him. I wonder if he is getting a little fatigued. Sanchez has pitched 116 innings, which is way more than his previous career-high of 52. Sanchez is still great for strikeouts but he has only pitched 14.1 innings over his last three starts. He's given up 10 earned runs over that span, which means his ERA in July is 6.38. I'm debating as to whether his high-point has passed and whether he'll be mediocre the rest of the way or whether this is just a bad spell. If he has another bad start tomorrow, I might send him packing.

Ubaldo Jimenez of the Colorado Rockies has caught my eye and maybe that's the guy that I replace him with. He's 4-1 this month with a 2.04 ERA and a complete game. His ERA, WHIP, opposing batting average and innings pitched have improved progressively each month.
