I thought the peak of the summer concerts would be the Beach Boys featuring John Stamos, but some new shows have grabbed my attention.
This Thursday, Sister Hazel will perform at the famous Bottle & Cork in Dewey Beach, Del. It's a small venue, but the show should be awesome, and Dewey is one of the most fun little towns on the Delmarva peninsula.
The weekend of Aug. 5 and 6 will be exciting around here as two concerts hit the Convention Center. On Saturday, the devil won't go down to Georgia, but will rather come down to Ocean City as the Charlie Daniels Band joins .38 Special in the Volunteer Jam concert. Keep an eye out for large quantities of moonshine and hairspray coming into Ocean City.
The next day, KC and the Sunshine Band will perform at the Convention Center to round out the weekend's festivities.
Tickets for the August shows can be purchased at the Convention Center or by calling 1-800-551-7328.
These will be probably be the best big-name concerts until Sunfest in September. Unfortunately, Delmarva lacks a venue large enough to draw some bigger names or contemporary bands.
If seeing the Jim Long Band at Seacrets every week doesn't feed your live music addiction, check out some of these better, more interesting concerts.
Alternatively, check out the band Full Effect. They always put on a great show, but unfortunately they don't play in Ocean City much anymore. They will play at the Rusty Rudder in Dewey Beach on July 26. One of their videos from a show at Nottingham's in Columbia is posted on YouTube, and is below. Sorry about the low quality, but there just aren't that many clips of them available.
