I tried to give my daughter a cap this morning and she informed me that she only wears the kind with straight bills. Then I heard the word “gangsta” and I left the room.
How low was last night’s attendance? When closer George Sherrill got within one out of his first save as an Oriole, the crowd rose to its foot.

Correctly guessing that Sherrill would get the save and Nick Markakis would go 2-for-4 doesn’t have me booking a flight for Vegas or buying scratch-offs. But I will predict another high-scoring game tonight.

Steve Trachsel surrendered 12 earned runs and 18 hits in 14 1/3 innings against Tampa Bay last season. For his career, he’s 0-3 with a 5.93 ERA in five games against the Rays. And in three career starts against the Orioles, Andy Sonnanstine is 1-2 with an 8.04 ERA in 15 2/3 innings. They’re hitting .353 against him.

But the scoreboard will insist it’s 2-0 all night.

Nice post-game remark from Aubrey Huff: “I’ve been taking it pretty good the last few days. But hopefully that game will win some hearts back.”

Did it?

“That was the sweetest home run I ever hit,” he said of his two-run shot in the sixth. “I ain’t going to lie to you. I hit that ball and I [said], ‘Just please just get out.’”

My ex-wife said the exact same thing. But I digress…

Something to consider whenever the Orioles are on the road: Matt Wieters, Billy Rowell and Brandon Snyder are playing for Single-A Frederick this season.
Did you know 109 players began the season on the disabled list, and the Twins were the only team to avoid it? The Cardinals and Marlins were tops with eight apiece.

The Orioles are confident they’ll have the most oblique strains.

Here’s a possible All-DL team. Feel free to make your own suggestions:
