Losing in the fifth

With Chad Bradford warming up, Steve Trachsel should be done after four innings.

Trachsel allowed five runs and six hits, walked two and hit a batter. He also threw a wild pitch, and left with the Orioles trailing, 5-3.

Hanley Ramirez drove Trachsel's first pitch of the game over the left field fence - and onto I-95. Or someplace close to it. Might have bounced on an off-ramp.

Marlins starter Rick VandenHurk retired the first nine batters he faced - where have we seen this before? - but a Brian Roberts walk ignited a three-run fourth inning.

Jay Payton doubled and both runners scored on Dan Uggla's throwing error. Payton ran through third base coach Juan Samuel's stop sign.

Kevin Millar followed with a long home run that gave the Orioles a 3-2 lead.

As Millar likes to say, "Got him!"

Scott Moore made a lunging stop along the third base line and threw out Uggla in the third inning.
