How good was Saturday night's Tennessee-Memphis game? So good that, during the second half, Dick Vitale basically talked about nothing but the game in front of him, with hardly any digressions into other games, other teams, other coaches, other sports or other worlds.

OK, Vitale did offer his suggestion for the new coach at Indiana -- Mike Montgomery, formerly of Stanford and formerly of the Golden State Warriors.

Late in the game, when Memphis' Joey Dorsey tried to distract J.P. Prince before the latter hit two free throws for the Volunteers, Vitale said of Dorsey's yakking: "Joey Dorsey should just play basketball."

ESPN made several references to how Tennessee has never been ranked No. 1 in men's basketball in the 100 years of the program. The thing is, though, the AP poll was first conducted 60 years ago.

So not only did Bruce Pearl see his Volunteers knock off the top-ranked team in the country, but,  at halftime, he also got to do what scores of American men have been dying to do. While being interviewed by Erin Andrews, Pearl was asked about Memphis' defense. Pearl said the Tigers were wrapping their arms around his players, at which point he demonstrated by putting his arms around Andrews.
