Rep. Stephen Lynch concentrated on an injury suffered by Roger Clemens -- Brian McNamee called it an abscess on Clemens' buttocks as a result of a steroids shot. Lynch said expert medical opinion suggested that the injury was more consistent with an injection of the steroid, Winstrol, rather than a strained glut muscle or a bad B-12 shot as Clemens had suggested.
The Clemens' side provided expert medical opinion that came to a different conclusion. Rep. Davis criticized Rep. Lynch for putting Clemens on the spot regarding expert medical opinions that Clemens is not qualified to address.
Rep. Paul Kanjorski was the first to question Charles Scheeler, a lawyer who helped prepare the Mitchell Report. Kanjorski was critical of the fact that the Mitchell Report outlined Clemens being at Jose Canseco's home for a party in light of numerous accounts that Clemens did not attend. The mention of the party, even though the Mitchell Report does not say steroids were discussed, has stood as an implication that it is significant in Clemens' alleged entry into the world of steroids. While Canseco has said Clemens was not at the party, he told the Mitchell people that he discussed PEDs on a number of occasions with Clemens.
