Harris Campaign Claims Momentum

Not to be outdone by Rep. Wayne T. Gilchrest's appearance with presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain this morning, the campaign apparatus of state Sen. Andrew P. Harris sent out a release touting phone calls made this weekend to more than 22,000 voters.

Harris and Gilchrest are locked in a tight primary race with state Sen. E.J. Pipkin for the Republican primary tomorrow in Maryland's 1st Congressional District. The calls were all made by Harris volunteers, part of a strong grassroots effort of door-knocking and sign-waving.

Harris plans a rigorous public schedule in the next two days, beginning at 6 or 7 a.m. on both days and lasting late into the evening.

Harris Campaign Gains Momentum

Campaign volunteers make over 22,000 phone calls over the weekend Annapolis - The Andy Harris for Congress grassroots campaign was in full swing over the weekend. The campaign had three hubs where people were phone banking, knocking on doors, and sign waving over the weekend.

The volunteers at the phone banks made over 22,000 phone calls encouraging people to come out to the polls and vote for Andy Harris.

"I am thankful for the hard work our volunteers put in, but we are not done yet," said Andy Harris.

The hubs are open all day Monday and Election Day. Each of the phone bank headquarters were overflowing with volunteers willing to help make phone calls, knock on doors, or go sign waving.

"This is a clear sign of the wave of momentum building behind the Andy Harris campaign," said Chris Meekins, Campaign Manager for Andy Harris for Congress.

Numerous elected officials stopped by and called their constituents to encourage them to vote for Andy. Andy and his entire family joined in the effort to get voters to the polls.

"As I talked to voters, I am very encouraged by their desire for conservative leadership," said Andy Harris. "I believe Tuesday is going to be a great night for our campaign and our party."

On Saturday, Andy stopped at all of the phone bank hubs and went door to door in Salisbury. He spent Sunday afternoon making calls to undecided voters many of whom were pleasantly surprised they were talking to the candidate himself.

During the next two days, Andy will be visiting all parts of the district to encourage them to come out to the polls and vote on February 12.
