The editor of Golfweek magazine has been replaced as a result of a magazine cover that showed the stark image of a noose. Dave Seanor is the editor who was fired.
The cover illustration went with a story discussing a comment by TV golf analyst Kelly Tilghman. She and analyst Nick Faldo were discussing how young golfers might stop Woods. Faldo suggested that "to take Tiger on, maybe they should just gang up [on him] for a while." Tilghman said, "Lynch him in a back alley." Tilghman apologized for her choice of words and Woods, a friend of Tilghman's, has said through representatives that he knew no there was ill intent on Tilghman's part. Still, the Golf Channel suspended Tilghman for two weeks.
When Golfweek came out, the cover fanned the flames of the controversy and drew criticism from the PGA, readers and advertisers. Seanor has been replaced by Jeff Babineau.
