Five overtimes. It took five overtimes for Baylor to beat Texas A&M, 116-110, last night. Both teams are ranked in the Top 25, but Baylor (16-2) raised its Big 12 record to 4-0 while Texas A&M (15-4) fell to the 1-3 in the conference. Guard Curtis Jerrells was the hero for Baylor, scoring 22 of his 36 points in overtime, including 11 in the the final OT. His free throws put the Bears ahead for good at 106-103. A steal and layup and four more free throws by Jerrells helped seal the deal. For the night, he was 20-of-24 from the free throw line.
* The Phoenix Suns got struck by lightning for the second time, losing to the worst team in the NBA, the Minnesota Timberwolves, 117-107. For the T-Wolves, it was just their seventh win of the season (7-34). Talented Phoenix leads the Pacific Division at 30-13. This is the second time this season that Minnesota has beaten the Suns. They also lost to the T-Wolves in early December, 100-93. Minnesota center Al Jefferson had a career night with 39 points and 15 rebounds.
