Did the Chargers, trailing 6-0 in the third quarter, really elect to kick a field goal on fourth-and-1 from the 2? Or did I just dream it?

Phil Simms thinks it was the right decision. I say go for it and pin the Titans on the 2 if you fail. And I'll take my chances with L.T. down there.

I'm not sure if the Bucs' fullback has a nickname, but I'm going with B.J. "I Didn't" Askew.

If you were compiling a list of the NFL teams with the worst receivers, how high up would you place the Titans and Jags? Perhaps first and second? And they're both in the playoffs, with the Jags already advancing.

The Chargers would have battled for first if they hadn't traded for Chris Chambers.

Quarterback J.P. Losman reportedly wants out of Buffalo.

In a related story, the Bills want Losman out of Buffalo.

Finally, the college football game we've all been waiting for is nearly upon us.

I like Bowling Green +5 over Tulsa.

Was anyone who reads this blog dining and/or drinking at Bill Bateman's Bistro in Reisterstown Friday night when Cal Ripken walked in?

Tamir Goodman, tabbed "The Jewish Jordan" by Sports Illustrated, made his debut Saturday night with the Maryland Nighthawks of the Premier Basketball League. He served as the backup point guard and didn't take a shot in 12:28 in a 92-89 loss to Wilmington.

In case you missed it, and I meant to write this earlier, the Orioles re-signed Luis Montanez to a minor league deal. He reads this blog.

And welcome back, Luis Terrero, who probably doesn't know this blog exists, though he used to get a lot of love from The Ghost of Earl.

June Jones is trying to decide between Hawaii and SMU. Tough call. It would take me at least 2 solid minutes to decide I wasn't leaving Hawaii unless someone dragged me off the island - kicking and screaming.

If you live in or near Frederick, it will be worth your time to check out a Keys game this summer. The roster could include Matt Wieters, Billy Rowell, Brandon Snyder, Jake Arrieta, Pedro Beato and Brandon Erbe. Everyone in this group is listed among the Orioles' Top 10 prospects by Baseball America.

Erbe has a shot at moving up to Double- A Bowie, but it's doubtful after he posted a 6.26 ERA at Frederick last year. The kid celebrated his 20th birthday on Christmas. No sense rushing him.

As Will Lingo points out in Baseball America, Erbe needs to work on his command and establish more of a mound presence. That should come with experience.

Erbe was mostly overmatched in the Carolina League. That might not be true in 2008.

I say we find out.
