Curt Schilling is returning to the Red Sox, Pacman Jones won't be returning to the NFL this season and the Ottawa Senators are setting NHL history with a 13-1-0 start.
And readers of this blog set their own record. We received more responses to the most recent item about whether it's time to bench QB Steve McNair after the Monday night nationally televised humiliation in Pittsburgh than anything that has appeared here. Not the Orioles' Mother's Day Meltdown, not the firing of Sam Perlozzo, nothing compared to the fan venting over the Ravens, McNair and coach Brian Billick.
The overwhelming consensus was that McNair should sit and Kyle Boller should play. A few folks mentioned third-string rookie Troy Smith. There was almost equally strong sentiment that Brian Billick should also be sent packing. In today's Sun, Ravens beat writer Jamison Hensley discusses in detail McNair's problems. Along with the story, there's also a poll on playing McNair or Boller. There's no doubt how that will go. The early results show 10-to-1 in favor of Boller.
I'll be stepping back from the debate for a few days only because I'll be away on assignment through the weekend. Over the next few days, I will be stopping back here from time to time to post additional reader comments and to make a few of my own but not with the usual regularity. So, check in on us. And we'll be back with a full menu of thoughts, news items and video on Tuesday.
