As I type this entry, Miami coach Randy Shannon is on the ACC coaches' teleconference talking about his game at Oklahoma.
If I'm watching instead of working this weekend, I'm looking for these big games:
Miami at Oklahoma (noon on ABC), N.C. State at Boston College (because of the Tom O'Brien factor, 2:30 p.m. on ESPN2), and the biggie -- No. 9 Virginia Tech at No. 2 LSU at 9:15 p.m. on ESPN.
This is a weekend when the ACC can make a statement on the national level. Or not.
Ralph Friedgen's part of the teleconference has passed. Nobody asked him about Josh Portis. He talked about his concern for the upcoming schedule -- playing a night game at FIU and then the quick turnaround before the Thursday night showdown against West Virginia. He praised Jordan Steffy, and the offensive line, and that was pretty much it.
Butch Davis is on now. Yawn. They're playing East Carolina, which gave Virginia Tech some trouble.
I'm waiting for Jim Grobe, to see how bad quarterback Riley Skinner's shoulder injury was, and if he'll play against Nebraska. Of course, he's last on the call.
Stay tuned.
