Chris Ray's throwing program in Sarasota, Fla. apparently didn't go as well as the Orioles hoped.
The team confirmed earlier today that Ray underwent ligament-reconstructive surgery on his right elbow yesterday. Apparently, the Orioles were too consumed by the Matt Wieters hype to alert the media any sooner.
Imagine Sun beat reporter Jeff Zrebiec's surprise when he arrived at Rogers Centre today and got the news.
Ray could miss the entire 2008 season, though pitchers return from this surgery a lot faster than past years. But he won't be the same for a while, even if he makes a speedy recovery. Just ask Jason Grimsley.
OK, maybe that's a bad idea.
Time to learn a lot more about James Hoey.
By the way, I got in my car a few minutes ago, turned on the radio and heard Moving In Stereo.
Kind of weird.
