The Phillies suffered the 10,000th loss in franchise history yesterday, which never would have happened if they had "Philadelphia" on their road jerseys.

The Orioles seem convinced that Danys Baez will be fine now that he's pain-free. He retired all four batters he faced yesterday after throwing a scoreless inning in his first appearance since coming off the disabled list.

"I thought he threw the ball good. He showed a good curveball," catcher Paul Bako said after yesterday's game.

"Danys went through a tough stretch, but we all stood by him. He didn't say anything. His arm was probably bad the whole time. He's a battler, he's a gamer and he wanted to be out there. He wasn't going to deny taking the ball. He showed why we wanted him here in Baltimore and that's to throw some quality seventh and eighth innings like he did today."

If Baez can reclaim the set-up job, the rest of the bullpen would fall into place as former manager Sam Perlozzo envisioned – minus Scott Williamson, of course.

I think it's fair to say this is a big start for Brian Burres tonight. He's fighting to hold onto his spot in the rotation. Another early exit could make the Orioles' decision regarding Garrett Olson a little bit easier.
