Did that guy on the grassy knoll look like George Steinbrenner?

What do you think the conspiracy theorists will make of the latest turn in Jason Giambi's weird season.

The Yankees' too truthful DH (right) is out indefinitely with an injury he suffered rounding the bases while TROTTING OUT one of his rare homers on Tuesday in Toronto. A few weeks ago, the major league establishment, including Yankees GM Brian Cashman, was highly displeased when Giambi said in an interview that many in MLB owe an apology for looking the other way during the steroids era. At the same time, Giambi admitted to using "stuff" himself -- obviously, something the entire baseball universe is well aware of since his own leaked grand jury testimony years ago.

Soon after that flap erupted, there were rumors that the Yanks might come up with some grounds that would allow them to void Giambi's zillion dollar contract and then the story oozed out that he had tested positive for amphetamines in the last year. And, of course, he was having a miserable May (.117, 3 HRs, 6 RBIs) at the plate.

Now, quite conveniently, he's out of the way with one of those all-too-common home run trot  injuries. Hmmm.
