Since Sam Perlozzo is under such scrutiny, I think it's fair to ask whether Cubs manager Lou Piniella has lost his clubhouse.
Or his mind.
Piniella kicked dirt, threw his cap and screamed. And that was during batting practice.
Seriously, what's going on in Chicago?
Meanwhile, Jay Gibbons still looks so lost at the plate. I keep waiting for him to snap out of it, and it better happen soon or he'll be back on the bench indefinitely.
Perlozzo is doing a good job of working him into the lineup, but not leaving him there to die. Gibbons seems to understand now that he can't expect to play six days a week while he's scuffling so badly.
Does Jay Payton look better to you in center than left?
The Orioles lead, 1-0, in the third inning on Nick Markakis' two-out double that scored Brian Roberts from first base. Howie Kendrick's relay throw landed in Tibet.
Brady Anderson has joined Gary Thorne and Buck Martinez in the MASN booth, and he just told a funny story about being called into casting for The Bachelor, and being rejected because of his age (42), and the fact he has a daughter and girlfriend.
To which Anderson replied: "Well, I can rectify one of those things, but I'm not sure what I can do about my daughter and my age."
Asked what he plans to do now, Anderson said, "I'm just waiting for Dancing With the Stars."
Former Oriole Don Baylor has joined MASN for its Nats Xtra pre-game and post-game shows.
Did anyone have a more lethal take-out slide than Baylor? He was like a dump truck with its brake lines cut.
