Television cameras at Tropicana Field picked up what appeared to be a tense exchange between manager Sam Perlozzo and first baseman Aubrey Huff last night, after Huff committed two errors on one play and also made a bad decision by throwing home. But Perlozzo seemed confused after the game when reporters asked him about it, as if he had no recollection of an angry confrontation.
Maybe we just imagined it.
I know their relationship, at least on the surface, seems pretty solid. Perlozzo stood in front of Huff's locker one day in spring training and told one of his classic Lou Piniella stories. I sensed that Huff wasn't a big fan of Lou's, but he certainly was amused by the tale and could relate to it. I never noticed any problems between them.
I wouldn't make a big deal out of their "exchange," or whatever we're supposed to call it. They're fine.
I'm taking a physical tomorrow, probably my first since high school. Hopefully, my deal to continue blogging for The Sun isn't contingent on whether I pass it.
The Orioles rescheduled their Jackie Robinson Day celebration for Saturday night. Nice gesture on their part.
