Former Wizards forward Chris Webber is about to sign with the Pistons.

In a separate news conference, the Pistons will announce that they're trying to trade Webber.

MASN has announced that Don Sutton will serve as an analyst on Nationals broadcasts. Except every fifth day, when he's asked to pitch.

To clear up any confusion, AD is Adalius Thomas' nickname.

I agree that AT makes more sense, but that's not for me to say.

Will 5-yard passes on third-and-8 get you a first down? Sometimes. But not on EVERY third down.

I'm not endorsing the idea of forcing a 15-yard pass into coverage and having it intercepted. But I'm fairly certain that other teams have managed to get a first down or two by actually throwing the ball beyond the marker.

Dare to be bold. Especially when there's no tomorrow.

Brian Billick announced today that he'll continue to call plays next season. Then he took a knee with one minute left in the first half of his press conference.

As for the Rodrigo Lopez trade, I'd naturally have preferred that the Orioles received two players that I actually heard of, but this was primarily a salary dump. They weren't going to pay him $4 million or more, after arbitration, to be unhappy in the bullpen. And they wanted some bullpen depth in the minors.

I'm also hearing pretty good things about Jim Miller. And I don't mean the former quarterback.

Funny how we expect Lopez to fetch more in a trade after he lost 18 games, but given today's market, and all the interest in him during the winter meetings, it's understandable.
