Remember when it was the Fox bunch who seemed like the kings of NFL pre-game wackiness? Yesterday on CBS, The NFL Today was introduced by action movie star Jet Li. Then Dan Marino started the broadcast by honoring host James Brown's sandwich effort the week before with the presentation of a loaf of bread and huge tubs of peanut butter and jelly.

After Shannon Sharpe's interview piece with several Ravens, Boomer Esiason chided him for using the third person in a second-person situation while speaking with Ray Lewis. "You were talking about Ray Lewis like he wasn't even there," Esiason said, drawing some of the cackles that filled the show.

Speaking of wacky, during Frank Caliendo's bit on Fox NFL Sunday, he made his picks while doing his Andy Rooney impression. Speaking of the Oakland Raiders having an offensive coordinator who had been out of football running a bed and breakfast, Caliendo said the team's offense wasn't much, but "the curtains in his office are faaaaaabulous!"

What is it with Ravens names and CBS pronunciations? This week, play-by-play man Gus Johnson said punter Sam Koch's last name as "kotch" instead of the correct "cook."
