Not another live draft

7:21 p.m.: Yes, it's another live fantasy football. I can't get enough of this stuff.

This time around it's the Charm City Champions League, baltimoresun.com's select league for experts and wannabe-experts alike. The 14-team makeup includes myself and my fantasy analysis amigos, Sheil Kapadia and Childs Walker, along with 2005 CCCL champion Jason Allen and 10 other serious fantasy ballers. Or so they say. We'll soon see if they've got the goods.

I'm going to run this back just like I did with last week, bringing you periodic updates from my personal war room as the draft unfolds. With 14 teams, this ought to get interesting. If you're curious, we're playing with 9-player lineups (QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, TE, Flex, K, DEF).

I'm lining up the fifth pick, which is no gimme. I figure Larry Johnson, Shaun Alexander, LaDainian Tomlinson and Tiki Barber go off the board first. Then what? You tell me. Or wait 10 minutes and I'll tell you.

7:57 p.m.: The pick, as far as I could figure, was Steven Jackson. Do I love him at No. 5? No. But of the six or seven running backs that made sense there, he made the most sense to me at the time. Twelve of the first 13 picks were RBs, with Peyton Manning (No. 10) the only exception.

I planned to go for a RB second as well but instead added Anquan Boldin when I sensed the big receivers were going fast. There were plenty of good second- and third-tier RBs left at that point, and I was happy to add Julius Jones early in Round 3. Not bad.

8:05 p.m.: Sad to report, I'm going to have to shut it down early here. It's bittersweet, too, because I feel like we had a good thing going. A real spark, ya know? But I'm having some serious technical issues, and if I'm not careful, I'm going to get myself in trouble. These guys mean business. I'll try to sign on later and recap the draft. Sheil just took Plaxico Burress, by the way. Discuss.
