It's stopped raining, which means I can go outside again instead of sitting around the house and wondering why I passed on Ryan Howard when I needed a replacement first baseman on my fantasy baseball team.

Now that Brandon Fahey has come back down to earth, this is a good time to remember that he'll be a valuable utility player next season, not an everyday left fielder. Or shortstop.

It came as no surprise that the Lions released Charles Rogers, the second overall pick in the 2003 draft. The guy has zero work ethic, and his maturity level is a few notches below the kid on "Two and a Half Men." But he's still an enormous talent. If he ever decides to grow up, he could be a star.

Or he could be Ryan Leaf.

I still feel good about picking Notre Dame to win the national championship. The Irish survived a tough one on the road. That's the sign of a championship team.

OK, I was sweating big-time. But it turned out fine.

Once you're able to stop staring long enough to open the magazine, read the article on former 'Canes in the NFL. There's a bunch of 'em, and they're loud and proud.
