While waiting for Luis Terrero to get a hit...

Anyone care to make a prediction on the MVP for tonight's All-Star Game?

I'm going out on a limb and picking Jim Thome, who isn't even starting for the American League. I see him hitting a home run at a critical time and taking home the award.

This means that, once again, I'm dissing Ryan Howard, and you'd think I would have learned my lesson by now.

I skipped him when needing a replacement first baseman on my fantasy team, choosing Mark Teixeira instead, and predicted that David Ortiz would win the home run contest last night in a close decision over Howard.

Moving on to other topics, it's nice to see Jim Meil returning to Towson University as assistant men's basketball coach, a job he held for 15 seasons before leaving. But the guy deserves a shot at being in charge. Hopefully, it happens one of these days.

Former WMAR-TV weekend sports anchor Keith Mills has taken a job at Maroon PR as an account executive. Among the responsibilities for Mills, who also is being considered for the morning sports job at 98 Rock, will be to generate new business leads and assist with media outreach.

Former Orioles PR director John Maroon established Maroon PR in April. Counted among his clients are Ripken Baseball, the Washington Nationals and the Babe Ruth Museum.

Most of you probably don't know the name, but Ottawa Lynx media relations director Brian Morris is leaving the organization to accept a position in the Ottawa Senators media relations department. He's always done a fantastic job with the Orioles' Triple-A affiliate and will be missed.

Before you go sending your resume to the Lynx, Riley Denver takes over for Morris beginning July 20. Riley comes to the organization from Judo Canada.

It's exactly what it sounds like.

Theories abound over what prompted France's World Cup captain, Zinedine Zidane, to head-butt Italy's Marco Materazzi in the chest during Sunday's final, leading to a red card and his ejection.

Materazzi and his teammates were talking smack, Materazzi called Zidane a "dirty terrorist," Materazzi grabbed Zidane's jersey, Materazzi pinched Zidane's nipple, Materazzi said something awful about French wines...

Whatever the reason, Zidane's timing couldn't have been worse.

Next, he'll bump Matt Kenseth on the last lap of the Ford 400.
