The Orioles just made a roster move, but it's not what you were anticipating. They placed Kurt Birkins on the disabled list with left elbow neuritis and called up Julio Manon.

I'll consult my medical dictionary.

As for the trade deadline, it's about two hours away. Good luck reaching anyone in the front office right now.

I know you want information. It's just not exactly pouring out of the warehouse.

One official said earlier today that he wasn't anticipating any trades, but you know how quickly that can change.

It's also important to note that Peter Angelos isn't the only owner who vetos the occasional deal.

See: Houston Astros.

I love the notion that executives from other teams are irritated with the Orioles for wanting to flip players they might acquire in a trade. As if that's their concern.

You don't think there were some clubs involved in Miguel Tejada trade talks over the winter that fully intended to move him, especially if it meant getting Manny Ramirez from the Red Sox?

The Rockies made it very clear last season that they weren't going to keep Larry Bigbie after obtaining him from the Orioles for Eric Byrnes, but the Red Sox backed out of their agreement. Colorado officials weren't even interested in having Bigbie's cell phone number after the trade was announced, since he presumably wasn't staying.

Anyway, I'll have more later from Camden Yards.
