Writing in The New York Times, Richard Sandomir heaps praise on the NFL Network's Mike Mayock  -- a draft analyst heavily quoted in The Sun's preview stories last week -- as superior to what ESPN had to offer Saturday.

Mayock "faced with better-known and certainly higher-paid analysts at ESPN during the National Football League draft ... lapped them all." Mayock, the Times said, was out front in draft information more often than ESPN's crew.

Speaking of whom, it's hard to disagree with the Times' assessment of Michael Irvin's on-air style: a "refusal to speak in any tone less than a nearly incomprehensible shout."
