Daniel Cabrera walked one batter tonight. Just one. And it didn't happen until the seventh inning. The only run off him was unearned because of a passed ball.
The best news? The game took only 2:12 to complete.
But back to Cabrera...
"I said all along that we felt like Daniel would be fine," manager Sam Perlozzo said. "That's what we're looking for the rest of the season. He stayed within himself. He stayed composed. And he was overpowering at times."
David Newhan will undergo surgery Thursday at Johns Hopkins to repair a fractured right fibula. He's hoping that the break isn't too severe, pins can be inserted and he'll be back in six to eight weeks.
"I haven't looked at the replay, but my front foot went over the bag and my back foot caught on the bag and rolled on me," he said. "It's just one of those things that happens in sports."
Never in bowling.
The Orioles haven't announced who will replace Newhan on the 25-man roster, but Perlozzo indicated it will be another outfielder. There are a few candidates, but they were playing tonight and the Orioles had to make sure nobody was injured.
Let the guesses begin.
Also, reliever Tim Byrdak will undergo a CT scan on his left elbow tomorrow.
