The Orioles have purchased reliever Eddy Rodriguez's contract from Triple-A Ottawa and placed Tim Byrdak on the 15-day disabled list. The club had one open spot on its 40-man roster, so no corresponding move was necessary.

The Orioles now have one left-hander, John Halama, in their bullpen. He threw 12 pitches tonight in his one inning of work.

One reason Ben Broussard's fly ball fell between Nick Markakis and Jay Gibbons was the Orioles were shading him to go to the opposite field, and he surprised them by pulling a Chris Britton pitch.

One more note on Todd Williams' bullpen session: Pitching coach Leo Mazzone made a few adjustments that allowed Williams to start sinking the ball. Williams will pitch Thursday and Sunday for Double-A Bowie on his injury rehab assignment.
