The Dodgers' closer made his first appearance since last June and needed only five pitches to get through the fifth inning. He topped out at 91 mph and struck out Nick Markakis.
The game is tied, 3-3, in the sixth. Jim Brower gave up three straight two-out singles in the third, none of them hit hard, to reduce the Orioles' lead to 3-1. The Dodgers scored twice against him in the fourth on Matt Kemp's triple, an RBI grounder by Bill Mueller and a bases-empty homer by Sandy Alomar Jr.
Chris Gomez walked with two outs in the fifth, but was picked off second base after Eli Whiteside's second hit.
LaTroy Hawkins made short work of the Dodgers in the fifth. Ricky Bottalico is pitching the sixth.
By the way, Bruce Chen threw 50 pitches in five innings, including 38 strikes, for Panama. He was losing, 2-1, to Cuba. He allowed four hits, walked one and struck out three. Vice president Jim Duquette watched part of the game on television and said Chen looked real good.
