Hello everyone. I'm back for more blogging, and today should keep us all very busy.
One item already has been checked off the list: Miguel Tejada returned to camp and spoke to reporters before batting practice. He didn't exactly fill up our notepads, but that's fine. Tejada basically said it was good to be back, he enjoyed the experience of playing in the World Baseball Classic and would do it again, he's not tired, and leaving camp didn't hurt his preparation for the season because he's now competed in winter ball and the WBC. He also noted how everyone played hard, but also cleanly, since they often were facing major league teammates.
Include Tejada among the players who were impressed by Daniel Cabrera. He said Cabrera's ball has more movement on it than past seasons. I always considered 98 mph to be some serious moving, but that's not what he meant.
Speaking of the WBC, I found it a little strange that Japan was named champion by majority draw.
Try to remain calm, but Anna Benson is expected to attend today's game against the New York Mets. And I'm expected to make a complete fool of myself. I drew 1:17 p.m. in the office pool.
I'm told her publicist sent out a press release announcing her arrival. We're still waiting for confirmation that Tim Byrdak's wife also will attend.
I'm sure it's only a coincidence that Anna's here for a game that's being televised back in New York. Stop being so cynical.
