The Orioles fell behind, 1-0, in the first inning on three straight one-out singles by Hector Luna, So Taguchi and Scott Rolen off left-hander Eric DuBose. Only one ball was hit hard. One didn't leave the infield. Another had eyes.

The Cardinals got sloppy in the second inning, allowing the Orioles to take a 2-1 lead, but they tied the score in the bottom half on Skip Schumaker's two-out single after Michel Hernandez walked and moved up on a sacrifice bunt by pitcher Adam Wainwright.

Yes, it's spelled Michel. I double-checked it.

David Newhan just singled and stole a base in the third. Where have I seen this before?

Nick Markakis singled in his first at-bat and later scored on Eli Whiteside's sacrifice fly. An error by left fielder John Gall allowed the Orioles to load the bases with none out.

I saw three of my readers again today. Here's my shout-out to Lindsay, Jill and Heathir, who have attended games in Jupiter (twice), Port St. Lucie and Fort Lauderdale during their trip. They're obviously big-time fans of the team, and the blog. The orange t-shirts today were a nice touch. I'm still waiting for my sign, though.

It's been really cool meeting so many of you down here, or just having some of you call out my name from the stands and make a reference to the blog. And the fact that none of you have used the word "sucks" really adds to my enthusiasm.

Newhan's at third base with two outs. Kevin Millar is batting. He's down two strikes. He takes a fastball high and outside. Yes, I'm staying with this at-bat until the end. I hope you will, too.

Foul ball. Still a 1-2 count. So...how's the weather where you are? It's beautiful here. My 13-year-old daughter is flying in from BWI later tonight. First time she's flown alone. I'm a nervous wreck.

Millar lined out to short. The game's still tied.
