Lets begin with a quiz question from the Maui Invitational in Hawaii:

What holds more moisture, the Pacific Ocean or Gary Williams' shirt?

That guy could sweat while peeling an orange.

Kudos to Comcastsportsnet's Brent Harris for an e-mail that fans of the movie Anchorman surely can appreciate:

"I'm going to miss hangin' out in the clubhouse with you. We need you. Hell, I need you. I'm a mess without ya. I miss you so damn much.

"I miss being with you. I miss being near you. I miss your laugh. I miss...I miss your scent. I miss your musk.

"When this all gets sorted out, I think you and me should get an apartment together."

- Champ Kind

Um, Brent, you might want to sit out the next few plays.

Not sure what to make of this one. A reader apparently was a tad confused over the pronunciation of my first name, which I find awfully hard to believe. He/she thought I was "Rich" and simply misspelled my name on every byline. Then the reader thought I was "Roach." The blog title, which was given to me, cleared up that mess.

Long story short: When my mother was a teenager in Ford City, Pa., she used to babysit a kid named Roch Mantini. She loved the name so much, she vowed to give it to her son, if she was fortunate enough to have one.

Roch Mantini and his brothers own a funeral parlor in Ford City. I covered the Orioles for nine seasons. So we both ended up working with stiffs.

Speaking of the Orioles, they'll likely assign outfielder Jeff Fiorentino to Double-A Bowie next season after purchasing his contract from Single-A Frederick in May and keeping him in the majors for three weeks.

Fiorentino collected hits in his first four at-bats and started out 6-for-10, but he fell into a 5-for-34 slump over his last 10 games before returning to the Keys. Too preoccupied with pulling the ball and trying to hit home runs, he struggled for two months in the Carolina League, batting .225 with five homers in 37 games. But he caught fire toward the end and hit .347 with 12 homers and 33 RBIs in 32 games in August.

Was it wise to bring him up so soon? Not everyone in the organization agreed with the decision, and some veterans resented that he instantly became a starter.

"I think differently about it now than I did earlier," said David Stockstill, director of minor league operations. "The way he came on the last six weeks, I think (the promotion) was good for him. We saw him mature, and now he has a much better idea of what to expect."

Oriole fans are hoping that the addition of pitching coach Leo Mazzone will make it easier to sign free agents Kevin Millwood and Paul Byrd, who thrived under Mazzone in Atlanta. It's not that much of a reach, but dollars usually speak the loudest. Loyalty will only pay for so many cars.

This year's pitching staff would have benefited most if Mazzone had been the designated driver.

I see the Portland Trailblazers put forward Ruben Patterson on the inactive list after he cursed at coach Nate McMillan during Sunday's game against the Knicks.

Interesting reaction from the Blazers. I thought when that happened in the NBA, they made you captain.
