Theme cruises are really hot, especially music ones of every genre from classical to blues to disco (my fave). The stars onboard are typically very talented musicians, but generally not that famous. I mean, it's not like they're dating Jennifer Aniston.

Who is dating Jen? Oh, yeah, that rockin crooner extraordinaire John Mayer.

Well, even if you can't romance Mayer, you can certainly dance with him aboard an upcoming cruise March 27-31 from Carnival Cruise Lines. It's dubbed the Mayercraft Carrier 2, but it's really Carnival's Splendor ship. As you probably guessed, this is the second time Mayer has taken over a cruise ship and turned it into a concert on the sea. (Not sure he was dating Jen then.)

The cruise is four days from Los Angeles to Cabo San Lucas (favorite hangout spot for Jen and friends). Rates are $1,298-$1498 for American Express cardholders who book a reservation by Feb. 15 or while cabins are still available. That shouldn't be a problem since this cruise ship is huge. It's one of Carnival's largest, so I wouldn't expect too much intimate time with Mayer himself.

But when you pay with your Amex card, you do get an invitation to a VIP cocktail party and an exclusive Q&A session with John Mayer. The odds of meeting him certainly get a little better. Still, if you're going for budget, there are cabins available starting at $799 for a double, but you don't get any face time with the man. But Mayer isn't the only entertainment on the ship - there will be concerts by some other folks I've never heard of, including O.A.R. and Guster (who?).

It should be a good party. The Web site promises "we're going to pack so much action into these four days, you won't have time to sleep, so don't bother bringing pajamas." And I believe em.
