Last light The 21st annual Symphony of Lights, a 20-minute drive through more than 70 larger-than-life holiday light displays, comes to a close. Held at 5950 Symphony Woods Road in Columbia. Hours are 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.. Admission is $20 per car or van with up to eight passengers, $45 for commercial vans and minibuses seating nine to 24 people, and $125 for buses exceeding 24 passengers. Drawing interest "Illustrators on Parade" is a program at 11:30 a.m. at the Central Library, 10375 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia. Starlicious auditions Singers, dancers, musicians and other performers between the ages of 7 and 13 are invited to audition from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the coming Starlicious Talent Show, at Columbia Gym, 6151 Daylong Lane in the River Hill Village Center. Auditions are open to the public. Lunch date The Howard County Historical Society is offering a new lecture series at the museum on Court Avenue, Ellicott City, "Lunch Dates with History." The first in the series will be at noon: "Restoring a Historic House" with Ray and Pat Greenwald. Bring a lunch; drinks and treats will be provided. One Book Campaign The Committee for Palestinian Rights is participating in the One Book campaign, an effort sponsored by Librarians and Activists With Palestine aimed at bringing people all over the world together to talk about a common book. The book that has been selected is "Mornings in Jenin," by Palestinian-American author Susan Abulhawa. The event is scheduled for 2 p.m. Jan. 18 at David's Natural Market Café, 5410 Lynx Lane, Columbia. It is requested that those who wish to participate read "Mornings in Jenin," and be prepared to meet and discuss the book on Jan. 18.
