Stephen Towns' 'What Profit is There in my Blood'

In September 2017, Goucher College mounted an exhibit of Stephen Towns' paintings that included six portraits of men and women grasping nooses as they tightened around their necks. A female African-American security guard complained to school administrators that she was offended by the paintings, and Towns voluntarily removed them. In their place, he left blue taped rectangles and a statement of explanation.
