When two people share a work space, one thing's for sure: You get to know each other. That's how interior designers Ann McDaniels and Jane O'Donoghue met, and that's why they opened Urban Threads, offering ready-made designer curtains and bedding, and their complementary accessories.

"We knew there was a void in the marketplace in this product we'll be carrying. There's not much out there," says O'Donoghue, who also owns JOD Interior Design. She shares a workroom in a nearby building with McDaniels' firm, Christen-Daniels Interiors. Together they have 13 years of experience in the field.

Young people looking to decorate their apartments or seasoned clients decorating vacation homes, children's bedrooms or guest rooms can find affordable high-end curtains and bedcoverings plus take advantage of the women's expertise in mixing and matching patterns and fabrics. Curtains of raw silk and washable cotton, lined bed skirts, pillows, and drapery hardware fill the four walls in an urban loft environment.

"There'll be plenty of things to see and touch in neutral colors so people can bring their own color story in their rooms," says O'Donoghue.

Adds McDaniels: "And the nice thing is that Jane and I tell you how to do it."
