Cafe 165 Serves Up Comfort Food in Pylesville

Owner Phil Day opened the eatery in March 2010 (By Matt Button)

Everybody knows where Café 165 is. When owner Phil Day was choosing a name for his new restaurant on Pylesville Road, he went with something everyone could remember. Café 165, simply put, is on Rt. 165.

"It's short, catchy and summed it all up," says Day, who opened the eatery in March 2010 and now has northern Harford residents eating out of his hand, uh, plate. Café 165 is a place where the burgers will keep you coming back as much as the crab pretzels or stuffed rockfish. "The pizza is catching on, too," says Day. "We make our dough every day and our sauce, too."

Café 165 has two rooms, a 60-seat dining room for dinner and the Varsity room, which has a cozy pizza joint atmosphere popular with teens and families. The menu covers standard appetizers, sandwiches, salads and entrées but with a few twists as well. Try Pizza Chesapeake, with crab meat, ham and Old Bay seasoning on a traditional cheese pizza with either tomato or Alfredo sauce. Hearty appetites can get a 12-ounce certified Angus steak here as well.
