The Sun's masthead proclaims "Light for All" its more than one million Maryland readers weekly. So why am I, a Baltimore City resident, so unaware of the Republican candidate for mayor, Alan Walden ("Alan Walden wins Republican primary in Baltimore mayor's race," April 26)?

When you tickle him does he not laugh?

My wife and I, both former New Yorkers who now live in Baltimore, have made a total commitment to this city. We know that we live in a place that has shadows, but despite its reputation it is not a place that has lost its soul. And friends tell me that Mr. Walden is determined to change Baltimore's reputation; this is an extraordinary city and he apparently wants the world to know it.

I refuse to accept that a great paper like The Sun has bought into the premise that the city of Baltimore is overwhelmingly going to vote Democratic and someone like Mr. Walden is a lost cause.

Tell us about him so that the "Light for All" actually illuminates this election.
