With all the problems our city faces, the bathroom wars of North Carolina and Mississippi should be off the radar ("Baltimore mayor bans government travel to N.C., Mississippi over transgender laws," May 10).
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake's ban on Baltimore City employees' travel to North Carolina and Mississippi is really stupid — how many city employees travel to North Carolina or Mississippi anyway?
If this decree weren't so ludicrous, I'd ignore it. But it's an embarrassment. If we lived in a city envied by all, a metropolis of thriving success, free of gratuitous crime and decay, then we might have time to worry about bathrooms down South.
However, I doubt Baltimoreans give a hoot about who uses the boys' or girls' rooms in North Carolina — and neither should Ms. Rawlings-Blake.
