The Sun misled its readers regarding the issue of ending Title X funds to Planned Parenthood ("For abortion bill, Pence called to Hill," March 30). This is neither an "abortion bill" nor an "anti-abortion measure" as The Sun suggested. In fact, the only correlation to abortion is that the end result will be an increase in unintended pregnancies.

Title X funds go exclusively to providing contraceptives and reproductive health care for low-income patients. Denying these funds to Planned Parenthood, the largest provider of reproductive health care in the nation, will only serve to ensure that thousands of women lose access to basic preventive health services and the ability to manage their own lives. How ironic that the same people who spout endless demands for "personal responsibility" would eliminate one of the most fundamental ways to exhibit it.

Rather than masquerading as defenders of life, proponents of this bill should admit that their motivation is a callous and immoral disregard for the health and dignity of our most vulnerable families.
