Why not just cut to the quick? Former acting attorney general Sally Yates briefed the White House counsel that Michael Flynn may have been comprised and that there were concerns with his "underlying conduct," meaning it was implicit and discoverable only by close scrutiny or analysis. I am not a lawyer, but through reasonable analysis, I could dissect the parallels between behaviors of President Donald Trump and his cohorts to conclude that President Trump himself was on the radar as well, not just here, but abroad.

Mr. Trump's casinos and other investments, in earlier times, were underwater heading for bankruptcy. Mr. Trump secured foreign loans. Suspicions are that Vladimir Putin or other foreign operatives were directly instrumental in securing this financing. Thus the reluctance to reveal tax returns. The Russians used the full weight of their collective, defensive and offensive counterintelligence methods over time to groom Mr. Trump and his cohorts. Today, President Trump feels the walls closing in ("Trump: Comey told me three times I wasn't under investigation," May 11).

Sadly, he was always unfit for the office. Some watching his behavior are in abject denial — and understandably. How could this have happened? And how can it be rectified before too much more damage can be done to the Republic? The Congress is impotent and in their own "boiling frog" experiment.
