Your article on Alex. Brown ("Raymond James bringing back Alex. Brown name," Sept. 7) brought back youthful memories of that name in a very different vein. Growing up down the street from Alexander Brown's estate, I spent a childhood peering in the holes of the green fence that surrounded this mysterious rich man's home.
We would peer in wondering what went on in someone's home who could be so rich to live in such a huge and sealed off place. We would try to see the horses or the pool or the tennis court. But most of all we wanted to see Alexander Brown. What would this rich man look like? No answer to our questions. Today when I drive by Mondawmin Mall, I still think of it as Alexander Brown's estate.
