Volunteer guide available
The Volunteer Center has a Holiday Volunteer Guide listing volunteer opportunities through December. Alzheimer's Association
Volunteers are needed for office and clerical assistance, including data entry and mailings and a help line specialist. The organization also needs speakers, family support group facilitators and community outreach representatives, including those to attend health fairs. Hospice drivers
Hospice of the Chesapeake seeks volunteers with four-wheel-drive vehicles to assist patients and staff with transportation during inclement weather. Information: 443-837-1549 or 800-745-6132.
Social Services
Volunteers are needed through December for the Department of Social Services' Holiday Sharing program, which matches donors to seniors and/or families in need of Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance.Duties include answering and making phone calls and entering families' wish lists. Y of Central Maryland
Volunteer mentors, 21 and older, are needed for the Y's Reach and Rise Mentoring Program at the Greater Annapolis Y, 1209 Ritchie Highway in Arnold. Program is free and intended for at risk youth ages 6-18. All mentors are screened through state and national background checks and provided with a 15-hour training program. A one-year commitment of one, two-hour session per week is expected from the volunteer.
