Environmental center
Volunteers are needed to assist in the education department of the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center and with activities such as leading field trips and canoe excursions, helping in classrooms, and maintaining aquariums and gardens.No specific experience is required, and appropriate training will be provided. Meals on Wheels

Health center

Train guide dogs
Volunteers are needed to raise puppies to become guide dogs and prepare them for formal training. The volunteers, who can be as young as 13 with parental supervision, take the puppies into their homes for 14 to 18 months and teach them manners and social skills.
