County to open four new Pre-K locations
Parents can register their children for public pre-kindergarten classes in four new locations for the 2015-2016 year.
Riviera Beach, Overlook, Odenton and Severn elementary schools will have half-day pre-k for 40 students in each location. Classes will be split into morning and afternoon sessions. Registration for these sites will open Monday for children who turn four by Sept. 1, 2015.
Those registering their children should bring the children's original birth certificates, copies of the children's immunization records and two proofs of residency, which can be rental or mortgage agreement and current utility bill.
Pre-k classes are for people who are economically disadvantaged or homeless. But some students with special needs may enroll if there are open spots after registration. Parents must bring either a federal income tax return or documents showing they qualify for Temporary Cash Assistance or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
To find the right school for registration, parents can go to the Locate Your School Link on aacps.org or contact the school's planning office at 410-439-5683.
