Pop paddle Father's Day canoe trip will be hosted by Jug Bay Wetland Sanctuary, 1361 Wrighton Road, Lothian, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Discover wildlife in the Patuxent River wetlands. Paddle up some of the smaller branches of the river to look for beavers, birds, and flowering wetland plants. Having the Conversation "The Legacy of Colonialism and Slavery" will be held 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at London Town and Gardens, 839 Londontown Road, Edgewater. The Conversation Starters and Historic London Town will host this discussion on the legacy of colonialism and slavery and why we are afraid to talk about contemporary issues of race in our communities today. Topics will also include the invasions of the Americas and Africa into slavery, racism, and intergenerational trauma. Free and open to the general public.
