Community carnival Congregation Kneseth Israel presents a Purim carnival with games, activities and traditional foods from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1125 Spa Road in Annapolis. The event features a moon bounce and pony rides, airbrush tattoo artist, casino games for adults, cotton candy, popcorn, pizza, falafel bar, a whipped cream pie-eating contest, silent auction, and carnival games for kids and adults. Annapolis architect Sara Phillips, architect of the U.S. Naval Academy, and James Cheevers, senior curator of the academy's museum, present "20th Century: Institutional Architecture," at 2 p.m. in St. John's College's Mellon Hall, 60 College Ave. in Annapolis. Lecture series The Annapolis Maritime Museum's lecture series concludes with Timothy Devine, owner of Barren Island Oysters, presenting "Launching Barren Island Oysters: New York Photographer to Oyster Aquaculturist," at 7 p.m. at 723 Second St. in Annapolis. Fine 'Rhine' The Colonial Players present "Watch on the Rhine" 8 p.m., 108 East St., Annapolis. The show is part of the company's American Standard series, and takes place in America in 1940, before the attack on Pearl Harbor drew the United States into World War II. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, students and the military. Gala The Rotary Club of Annapolis' 12th annual Black Tie and Diamonds gala will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Westin Hotel in Annapolis. This year's beneficiary will be the Connected Warrior Foundation. Tickets are $150 per person or $1,500 for a table of 10. The cost include cocktails, sit-down dinner and wine, as well as music and dancing. A silent auction, live auction and raffle are planned. Oyster roast The fifth annual Annapolis Oyster Roast and Sock Burning will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at the Annapolis Maritime Museum, 723 Second St. The event features music by the Eastport Oyster Boys, an oyster-shucking contest and historic skipjack rides. Beer, wine, food and other beverages will be available for purchase. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door, and free for children 12 and younger.
