Best redemption tale: Michael Phelps

For a time, it looked like all the Olympic glory might have gone to Michael Phelps' head; his personal life — thanks to a pair of drunken-driving arrests, a photo of him smoking a bong, a suspension by USA Swimming — appeared headed for a train wreck. But Phelps, who owned up to his mistakes, turned things around. He got married, had a kid (Boomer, the real darling of the '16 Olympics), earned back the respect of his Olympic teammates and earned another round of gold medals. Lesson learned, and legacy intact.
