Best fitness instructor: Esther Collinetti

Esther Collinetti, co-owner and instructor at REV Cycle Studio, has been chosen as the best fitness instructor for the "Best of Baltimore." (Kevin Richardson / Baltimore Sun video)

A scientist when she decided that teaching spin was her calling, Esther Collinetti now revels in her day job as cycle instructor and co-owner of Rev Cycle Studios. There, she encourages others to bring love, sweat and vulnerabilities to the bike, pushing them with panache and the occasional profanity.

"I'm a hard believer of the 40 percent rule — that when you think you have nothing left to give me, you always have 60 percent more in your tank, so if profanity is the way to elevate them, I will use it," Collinetti, 41, said.

Collinetti herself strives to be a "badass" in everything she does.

"If I'm teaching, I'm not just going to teach. I'm going to teach with my whole heart," she said, and she expects nothing less of her clients, as she strives to instill them with the confidence that they're "going to kick some major booty out there."

Don't expect the classes to be easy, she said. Expect them to be worth every dollar.

Collinetti teaches at 8:45 a.m. Sundays; 6 p.m. Tuesdays; 6 a.m. Thursdays and Fridays at Rev Cycle Studio McHenry Row, 1718 Whetstone Way; and 12:30 p.m. Fridays at Rev Cycle Studio Brewers Hill, 3700 Toone St. revuup.comesthercollinetti.com
