Get out the rain gear because you're going to need it today and for the next several days, as there is a chance of showers through Saturday. Temperatures will once again hit the low 70s today, and will fall back to an over night low of 48. Winds will be out of the southwest at 6 to 12 mph.

Pioneer Green Energy informed Somerset County officials that it was shelving plans to build 25 giant turbines capable of generating up to 150 megawatts of electricity. The company cited ongoing opposition from Southern Maryland lawmakers as the reason for its decision.

Baltimore County is raising water and sewer rates by 15 percent in order to repair the region's aging infrastructure. It is estimated that a family of four will pay $141 more per year.

On Monday, the Supreme Court declined to hear the case of Alan Gross, of Potomac,  who had spent five years in Cuban custody. While in prison, Gross had sued the federal government for allegedly failing to prepare him for his dangerous mission on the communist island.

FROM LAST NIGHT
As the Maryland General Assembly moved into the last week of its 90-day session, Gov. Larry Hogan expressed concern Monday about the fate of his budget and legislative agenda.

In an effort to solve more of Baltimore's homicide cases, police said a dozen experts will visit the city homicide unit to examine how detective investigate killings, part of a grant the department has received from the U.S. Department of Justice. The announcement was made by Police Commissioner Anthony W. Batts following a violent weekend that saw three people killed.

Prosecutors have charged six people with animal cruelty in connection with a January raid that shut down the city's oldest -- and one of the last -- arabber horse stables near Hollins Market.
